Sandy and Buckwheat

Sandy was rescued from Arkansas in 2006. She came in as a very sickly 7 month old puppy and follow up bloodwork showed she was infected with Ehrlichia and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. She was not treated with the correct antibiotics and continued to struggle with some fevers (one that spiked to 106 degrees) until retesting the spring of 2009 showed she still had antibodies present. Retreatment began with doxycycline for 8 weeks and she is a very happy healthy girlie now.

Sweet Sweet Gilligan

Gilligan is one of our most special rescues. He suffered from severe malnutrition and neglect and nearly died after he came into foster care. Gilli survived Parvovirus, Heartworm disease, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever which has left him with permanent brain damage. His foster mom worked very hard to help him overcome his health issues and handicaps (spending a small donated fortune to his care) and adopted him a year after he came to her home. We love this little dog!!
